On Friday November 4, 2016 the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition in partnership with the Harrisonburg Rockingham Metropolitan Planning Organization, The City of Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, and James Madison Univeristy, hosted our regions fifth annual Bike-Walk Summit. The Summit was held on the campus of James Madison University and brought together community members including, Rockingham County and City of Harrisonburg staff, Elected officials from the City of Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, and surrounding towns, local bicycle and pedestrian advocates or interested and concerned citizen groups.

Each year the Bike-Walk Summit brings together a broad range of partners who are working to make Harrisonburg and Rockingham County a great biking and walking community to live in and visit. For 2016, the theme was “Stronger Together: Building an Inclusive Biking and Walking Community” with a keynote address from Veronica Davis Co- Owner and Principal of Nspire Green and founder of Black Women Bike. Her talk and the other sessions will be focused on building relationships and reaching communities in the region that have not previously been involved in the walking and bicycling movement. Veronica Davis posted a follow-up about her talk at the summit on the blog for her consulting firm, Nspire Green.20161104_103921We also played
