12/2: Reclaim Red Diamond Trail Work Day
What: Trail work on “Red Diamond” Trail (Trail #428A Slate Springs) with a goal of 20 volunteers.
When: Saturday, December, 2 8am to 1:30pm (leave Mr. J’s at 8am be back by 1:30pm) Folks are welcome to meet on-site anytime, 4 wheel drive required.
Why: The trail has seen some serious wear and tear lately from the elements and is due for some love. Big trenches in the tread, trees down, overgrown, and more.
Where: Meet at Mr. J’s Bagels on 42 South or out on the trail. The trail is accessible from Hone Quarry at bottom (high clearance vehicle required) and from the top near Flagpole Knob.

Details on the project work:
- Remove big blowdowns from the flat section at bottom of trail (2-3 person crew drive in from bottom) then drive to top when done. Maybe leave vehicle at bottom for half of brushing crew.
- Relocate trail entrance, build 40′ new trail and build big grade reversal to divert water across the trail (6-8 person crew).
- Brush upper 1.5 miles of trail (8 person crew)
- Speed bench upper 1/4 mile of steep sidehill trail. (6-8 person crew)
