Big Dig Day on Massanutten Western Slope
The Big Dig Day is a volunteer trail-building event on the Western Slope of Massanutten. Volunteers will work together to build new trails and or maintain existing trails.
This is more than a volunteer day! It will be a fun, family-friendly day in the woods with friends old and new! Bonus… you can earn your annual Western Slope trail pass volunteer hours in a single day!
Prior trail building experience is NOT necessary. On-site training and instruction will be provided so volunteers can work safely, confidently, and effectively.
- What: A celebration of our volunteers while we highlight our trail improvements on the Western Slope
- Where: Massanutten’s Western Slope near Keezletown
- When: Saturday, May 14
- Why: To attract more people and demystify the volunteer trail experience
Please choose one of two shifts: 11am-2pm or the 2-5pm shift, or if possible, join us for the entire event and take advantage of the whole experience, including food, drink, and festivities.
Lunch, dinner, and adult beverages will be provided for all participants. Lunch will be DIY sandwiches and sides, packed up and taken out to the project site(s). Once the workday is done, we will gather back at ground zero for dinner. Plan on food from Hank’s BBQ, hand-cut boardwalk-style french fries from Just Fries, beer from Elkton Brewing, and cider/hard seltzers.
RSVPs ARE REQUIRED. Please sign up so we can plan effectively. Once you’ve signed up, you will receive email notifications with details about the day, including where we will meet. We need a headcount for food/drink and to give you some thank you gifts.
