Wanted: Ride leaders for the 2015 SVBC Mountain Bike Festival
Every October, the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition hosts its annual mountain bike festival. As the major fundraiser for the club, the festival is run 100% by local volunteers. We’re just getting started on planning our rides for this year’s festival on October 9-11, and we could use your help as a ride leader!
Are you willing to donate a few hours of your time to lead a ride at this year’s festival? We’d be grateful if you would share your time and local knowledge, especially with the many out of towners who come to support SVBC from afar by attending the festival.
We get many requests for more beginner and intermediate level rides (advanced riders are very good at taking care of themselves!), and we’d love to be able to offer more of these rides on our schedule. We also typically offer kids’ rides, women’s rides, night rides, and even the occasional road or gravel road ride.
If you’re interested in helping with ride leading, please send your name, type of ride you’d like to lead, any scheduling preferences, email address and phone number to ride leader coordinator Sue George at sue.george.cycling@gmail.com or 540.746.8468. Then we’ll match up those of you willing to lead similar types of rides at similar times.
SVBC will provide ride leaders with guidance on ride routes, first aid kits, ride snack food for riders, maps and other general support as needed.
